So new year is coming up! After Christmas that is... That means new recruits for my CCA! Wee!
So, we are making a movie to attract the new recruits... And I am in it! Hehe! We made an intitial movie but decided it was crap so we scrapped it. The second movie had a few changes including cast members cause some did not come on that day. I'm in for both anyway... Over-enthusiastic guy here!
Yesterday we had a send-off-the-seniors party! For graduating secondary 4 people. Funny enough... All the sec 4s could not come because they had grad-lunch,,, Aww.... So we just had a BBQ party with water bombs and water guns with the juniors. Played tug-of-war before we ended everything and went back.
The end. I guess. Teehee!

CCA resume.
Resumed CCA after Common test 3. Yesterday was physical training. Or more like a second chance for those who wish to improve. Gold NAPFA people in charge of each station. I was in charge for shuttle run. In the end, because sec 1s went for train fire and some sec 3s went to parliament house, very few came. So the teacher in charge just took care of all the stations. Left me pretty jobless and hella of a bored...
So I just wasted 3.5 hours there. In the end, the specs had to entertain themselves. We used the dice, meant to train the orienteering group, the fittest sec 2s. Kinda used the numbers to do push-ups. Eg. throw twice, ten-sided dice. number times number = push-ups to do. highest number gained was 81. Chances were 0.01%. But my friend got it. Still owes us 86 push-ups. hehe.
So yeah, that was it, really bored training.

National Day Carnival
8/8 Sunday. 2.45pm report there. Set up of stalls and stuff. Held behind school.Yeah, I know, pretty late already and stuff, but yeah...
2 stalls. "Dead or alive" and "NERF". I was manning the "Dead or alive" stall. 13 cups. 10 tries. Depending on the score, you get a prize. Sounds easy yes? Haha... We thought so too... The initial scores were quite high. Then when we tried it, we had to lower down the scores or it would be impossible. Prizes were biscuits, waffles, notepads w/ calender, mini sewing kit and electric hand-held fan.
Image by HK-DMZ via FlickrFor the "NERF" stall, we used the Vulcan Nerf gun. The one in the picture. (NOTE: The pic is not mine...) Customers had to shoot down little action figures to gain a prize. This one was easier. We thought this station would have loads more people than the station I was manning. Odd enogh, the station that I was manning had more customers. Hmm... Usually one would think that a station would have more customers if the equipment was better and more attractive. Then again, it may be because the banner was more on our side, thus attracting more customers...

Games started at 5pm. Had dinner before we started. I ate Hainanese chicken rice. (NOTE: The pic is not mine... neither was it the stall's chicken rice...) Quite decent considering the fact that the amount was more than most of the other stalls and that the tickets were really cheap. We got 1 free ticket each. 1 meal, 3 games, 1 luky draw. Lucky draw ticket was given to also receive a free goodie bag.
My father was invited to the dinner there w/ Dr Tharman. One of the VIPs there. 9pm we started packing up the stalls and by 10pm we were off! My father then fetched one of my friends and I home. Some pics during the carnival below. As the camera man, I'd obviously NOT be in the photos... Those are all my friends...

National Day Parade done!
National Day Parade today. 6:30am report to school. My father fetched me there. Was half an hour early, so my father went to McDonald drive through and got sausage mcmuffin meals. Ate in school. 6:30++, went with my senior to ensure that the markings for the contigents and parade commanders were in place. Aligned the marking et cetera.
Parade went out quite well. However, I had problems... The fiber glass rifle muzzle was too short. Was unable to switch hands with rifle to take pladge. Well it was quite hard to hold it 'cause there was nothing to hold. The front sight was not there. Was not much of a problem to me though. Then, lastly, the drain cover was bent. I tripped, but did not fall. However, it was in front of so many! How embarrassing!
Went to the hall for concert. Kinda boring. Sang National Anthem then released at 10am. That about it. Tomorrow I'll have to go to TJCC at 10am for preparations for Sunday festival. My father will be attending the dinner there while I'll be setting up the game stalls there. Haha! So, till then!

ND Parade
NDP upcoming. I'm in GOH as usual. Guns and gloves. Of course wooden rifle. Held in school. No biggy. Gonna get done and over with quickly. Not exactly sure when but I'll post up pictures of it as soon as it is done. I'll continue updating this with whatever trainings I got...
Anyway, I missed the last training, on Friday, 30/7. Had a dental appointment at NUH. Took too long, had to tell them I couldn't come. No problem since it was not NDP training... But I'll try not to miss such things if possible.

Bah! Why today!
*sob* *sob*... Had to fall out during the NDP parade rehearsal. It is for the school one. I do not know why, but for the whole day, the world seems to be spinning faster than usual or something. Felt super dizzy. When the rehearsal started, I had one hell of a terrible headache. Had to fall out and take a break. When I thought I was better, I joined them. However, I felt worse than before. Nearly puked too... Had to fall out again. Feel so sorry I dissappointed my friends....
Anyway, after a really long break, and drinking a whole load of water, I got better. By then, the rehearsal was done with. So I just joined them for drill training. Still had a headache and felt a little dizzy.
Still having a little headache. My throat is sore and my body hurts like hell too. Damn, I really need to get well faster...

UDI / DI
UDI: Unit Drill Instructor DI: Drill Instructor
UDI is supposed to be better. Anyways, that would be the post I'm aiming for. Last Friday, we gave out slips to the juniors to vote for whom to be UDI and DI. We also voted. 2 choices each. I really want to be UDI or DI, I believe I can do it too, so I voted myself and someone else.
Hope the results can come out soon. By the way, another two of my friends were promoted to 1st sergeant. Both were ASM, planning and discipline. Got into like a ritual of throwing them into the pond if anyone gets promoted. Sadly, this would be the last. Teacher disapprove... But we had fun. Most of my batch, including me, have went through that. Real fun but messy... hehe

Ok....
So today we had PT(physical training). Really fun. For a long time, I haven't exercised as much as to make my limbs shiver after the training. They were pratically jelly-like. However, I recovered quickly and continued on with the games.
Pretty much, I was assigned to Grp 1. After the company warm-ups and a few push-ups, sit-ups and jmping-jacks, we went on to do a few stations. This were to train up the sec 1 and 2 for their upcoming NAPFA. My group went for push-ups > suicide run (I have no idea why its called that... just much more challenging than the shuttle run station in NAPFA) > Pull-ups (up, hold 5s. down, hold 20s, up, hold 5s than done...) Did 10 incline pull-ups after that.
Games were really fun. Exhausted, but regained my energy quickly. Played handball cause I wasn't one of those soccer maniacs but wasn't really enthusiastic about it. Then, poison ball. My fave. Sit in a circle a throw balls at the people in the middle. Last man standing cum one-way dodgeball kind of thing. I just love dodging. I surpised myself with my exceptional performance in the last game I played. Really fun throwing balls at people too.
Master parade, AAR(after action review or something like that) for specialists(I'm in), then go home... Yeah pretty fun PT. In fact, one of the best I've done in a long time.

NCC Day!
1st July NCC Day! Actually nothing much happened... pretty similar to the last 3 years. Wore no.3 to school. Basically uniform with badges. Raining like last year so everybody had to stand while my CCA teacher-in-charge made the speech.
Most of us got picked on by teachers. As usual, they like to pick on you cause you're standing out. Lessons continued as per normal. No big deal. Pretty mundane school life. Well, that's what ya get for going to school...

Whee!
Today's training before school reopens, went pretty well in my opinion. Well, of course! My batch took over for the first time. Actually I felt pretty neutral about it during training. Like, oh, teach those guys something... take some responsibility... show some leadership et cetera. For some reason, when i decided to post this, it's like a spark and then I got all excited. Weird eh?
Anyway, today's training was suppose to get us back into training mood before school starts. My batch taught the juniors some IFC. 2 of the 4 components.
(skip this para if you're not interested in the IFC details)
IFC stands for individual field craft. the 4 components are field signals, movement by day, judging distances and target indication. We taught them field signals and movement by day. Field signals taught were fall in, space out, scout, slow down, 2x up, take cover, ally, foe, etc. Movement by day taught were high crawl (baby crawl), low crawl (leopard crawl), worm crawl (although not sure whether still in syllabus), roll, monkey dash (also not sure whether still in syllabus), high alert, normal alert (I was taught this as low, but sb just went for spec course and said they taught him that so what the hell...), and low alert.
After training, talked with the seniors about the posts stuff etc. Went to MacDonalds for lunch with my friends after that.

Going back to school for CCA soon...
School is about to reopen and I have yet to complete my holiday assignments. In addition, this LAMS website is spoilt. First, there was the overcrowding site error. Now, it is on maintainance! I'll never complete the work posted there... Not like I actually finished my Chinese holiday assignment that was handed out... Although I'm sure I can finish it by the end of the holidays...
Oops... That should be placed on my other blog shouldn't it....
Anyway... Back to the matter... Will have to get back to school for NCC on the 25th... Friday, 1pm. Full no. 4. Hmm.... Wonder what's gonna happen now that my batch just took over. Looks like things will get interesting there...

Camping!
Tomorrow having NCC camp. 2 days 1 night. In school. I belong to team Alpha. I'm second day IC (in-charge) for my team. Packed my bag and ready for tomorrow.
However, school comes first. Sad, sad, sad... After school then proceed to camp. Can't wait for it. Teehehe.
Anyway, 1st day IC gotta do something like orienteering. They plan themselves. SMs already have a plan for us. We just make sure things go smoothly.
Gotta bring a few things there clothes and all. Not too bulky. I've gone for countless camps, so I consider myself pretty experienced. I know what is needed and excess can be drop. Removal of all dead weight. Compulsory items gotta bring though... like whistle and standardised 1.5L coke bottle.
I'm not sure where we'll be sleeping. Probably in the classrooms. However, in case they decide to build tents on the field, a higly unlikely possibility, I'm going to have to bring the sleeping bag as asked. I'm pretty weak against the cold. I don't really like the air-conditioner either. Fans are better.
Anyway, since we'll be taking over our senior soon, this camp is pretty much one of the last few times we'll be seeing our seniors. Only the USM post has been confirmed. For now the USM will give us temporary posts.

Whoo! Live firing!
Went for live firing using SAR21 at Pasir Laba Camp.First time for me using real rounds. It was great! Wasn't even close to scary.
Got 21/24 shots. 8 practice rounds before the shots. All hit. Foxhole position was first time for me as well. Always asked us to prone. Supported and unsupported for figure 15 and fig 12. Weird thing was I hit all except for 3 rounds... And it was on the unsupported fowhole position fig 15. The bigger one I think... Guess I got complacent.
Anyway, got marksman badge. 5 out of the 17 who passed IMT. 4 got 21, 1 got 22. Got thrown into dustbin today after physical training. Custom for us to throw us into the pond, the dustbin, or whack our crotch on the pole, during promotion or when getting some award that require to go through testing.
Wish I could go again. Oddly, I'm the type who shoot fast. I aim then fire 6 rounds near consecutively. Pretty good eh? Those who actually followed procedure, as in hold breath when firing, which I think should not be done, some got marksman but the rest did not. Our IMT top scorer went James Bond... 007 hits only... lowest in our school.
Yeah so that's it for now. Will be having to do mutals on Friday.

SISPEC
Came back form spec course 17/3/2010 - 19/3/2010. Camp was great. Met a few new friends and one primary school friend. Loads of fun. However, platoon's discipline not up to level, made me depressed.
Made us sit down most of the time. Resulted in ass pain, leg numb and knee pain. That's for me. Till now, 7 hrs ++ and my sole of my feet still numb.
My platoon, Echo 5, Sir and Ma'am were really nice. Brithdays the same, on Christmas eve. They were kind and caring. Hope I can see them again one day.
Camp was generally great. Great food, great beds, great Sirs and Ma'ams. Really starting to miss these things. Other things like making us sit nearly all the time, not a wanted memory.
Went to IGTS. Stands for Infantry Gunnery and Tatical Simulator. Demonstrated the mortar and some homing missile thing. Tried out the grenade launcher, the machine gun and the Metador. Real fun but I like the granade launcher best. Beatifully mounted on guns. Real sleek looking.
That's it for that. Yeah. Promoted to 3rd sergeant. Not 2nd sad... But not senior cpl whoo!

Specialist camp
Coming Wednesday, 17/03/2010, to Friday, 19/03/2010. Real happy. I really don't like staying at home. Now and then, I love to go out for camp's or hang out with friend. However it's not because I'm lonely or an extrovert. In fact, I consider myself an introvert. This blogs are probably the best way to get things out of me. And I kinda like the dark, but it must be cool not cold. And if it's bright, it's gotta be hot. Any mismatching and I would feel really sick.
Anyway, abot the camp. I'll get my sergeant rank if I go for it. Of course there'll be those who become senior cpl instead. However, I'm pretty confident about myself.
With votes from other people, I'll be able to be promoted to higher ranks like PS, ASM or USM. Not sure how to get RSM though... But I'm pretty much aiming for ASM or USM...
Of course, I gotta remeber the pledge *so-so tick*, the 7 values * tick*, stripping and assembly of M16 *tick*, stripping and assembly of SAR21 *tick*, the parts of the guns *NOT tick*, etc...
Haven't got the packin list. Can guess some of the items... Good luck to me!

FSD "funny feet"
Inspired by another schools uniform group. Decided to use it for our FSD competition.
Srry 'bout the lousy quality. Used my handphone to film it down. Didn't know how they do it. So, we made our version. First time. Quite good for first timers eh? Not standard yet at that time. So, coodination really sucks.
Prototype for Jurong Sec FSD ver. of "funny feet". I'm third from the left. IC second from left and AIC at the back. The shirt I was wearing is not the Jurong PE shirt. got the shirt from some school activity last year. Pants was the school shorts. Brings back old memories... LOL
Did it yesterday morning at the FSD competition. When coodinated with perect timing, it was the best! Good luck to us!

Free style drill competition
27.02.2010 Jurong NCC freestyle drill team went to HQ NCC for freestyle drill sompetition. Been training really hard, although a little slack in the holidays, since the holidays. Today was the big day.
06 00h, gathered at lakeside MRT station. I went there early and ate my breakfast there. Cup noodles from 7 eleven. I think the water was not clean. Had stomach ache later. 3 of my other friends ate it too. all had stomach ache.
Took MRT to Yio Chu Kang. Walked to HQ NCC. 07 30h report in and registered. We were 3rd to perform. I felt that we did it real good. Good coodination but no music. Don't know which school, no coodination. Worse I saw there. Can't remember if it was Nan Hua or something like that, they were the best I saw before we left. Girls unit. Best coodination with great music. To the beat.
Took MRT back to lakeside with my friends. Walked with one of my friend back to his home before I took bus back home. Supposed to have A & E math remedial but was unable to make it out. 12 00h, I saw some of my classmates walk out of school. However, my friend told me that it actually ended at 11 30h. Anyway, I went home to eat lunch.
Hope we get a good placing. I doubt we would be first though. That girls unit deserve it (well, that is from what I saw while I was there, there may be better ones later)
Anyway, we were the only group without a specialist with us. So we were really slack... But I'm sure we did great.

Trainfire SAR 21
Had trainfire for the Singapore Assault Rifle (SAR21) today. 21 probably because it's supposed to be a 21st century weapon. Anyway, this is what I've learnt there.
Stripping of SAR 21
- Magazine out. Place on right most
- Charge weapon a few time then observe chamber. Shout "check clear". Set to safe
- separate weapon by pulling out pin (srry forgot name of pin)
- Receiver group assembly can be separated further to upper/lower receiver group. Place ...receiver group assembly left of magazine
- take out bolt carrier group and place barrel group assembly on left of receiver group assembly
- open cross pin and take out firing pin. Place firing pin left of barrel group assembly

CCA
My CCA (Co-Curriculum Activity), a compulsory for most, or all, secondary schools in Singapore, is NCC (National Cadet Corps). I've been posting my CCA on my school blog. I decided to separate it now.
However, posts of my CCA in the other blog will be left there.
